Gi class

Teachings of the day... standing headlock take down. Grab the attackers wrist posture up/look up, get your hips as close as you can to the attacker, monkey paw the attacker's furthest foot with your foot*, sit down, pulling the attacker to the ground. From here you essentially have a bicep splicer, kimura, or arm bar. It's been a while since I've posted anything. I wasn't injured or anything just busy. *If the attacker's furthest foot is the attacker's right foot then monkey paw the attacker's right foot with your right foot. This would mean the attacker has you in a headlock on his/her left side.

Gi class

Teachings of the day... arm triangle choke from standing, mount, and side control. Trap the arm with your head, wrap your arm around your opponents head, grab you bicep (tricep if possible) put your hand on your head and squeeze. I rolled for about 10 minutes.

Gi class

Teachings of the day... sweep from mounted position and Kimura from side control. Sweep - trap the arm with your two hands, trap the same side foot with your foot, bridge up and roll. You will end up in your opponents guard.

Drill day and Gi class

Drilled in the afternoon with a friend. One of the instructors showed up so we got about 20 minutes of instruction. That was awesome. Went over back escapes, no gi baseball bat choke, no gi bread cutter choke, no gi Ezekiel choke, gi chokes from the back using opponents lapel, how to get someone's back that turtles, and side mount escapes. Awesome drill day! Went to Gi class at night. Learned double under hook legs guard pass and drilled it all class.

Gi class

Teachings of the day... escaping the Kimura. Bump up and put your hand on the opponents bicep. Bump up and trap your attacked hand under your back. After the escape you can choke from the bottom. It is done sort of like a rear naked choke but you put your hand on the opponents forehead. I rolled for 30 minutes today. I got a submisson I learned from Kris Kim's triple attack video! From side control I trapped my opponents arm and the put my hand behind his head and squeezed. Painful on the shoulder for sure and can also choke your opponent if there's enough pressure. You can find that video on my favorite video page.

Gi Class

I went to Gi class today. We did passing guard drills. England got his blue belt today. I finally got past England's guard. He did give me some tips that helped. We did half guard drills as well. I rolled for like 10 minutes against a guy 35 pounds heavier than me and 4 inches taller. I was dominated but didn't get submitted. A small victory for me! Unfortunately, I also sprained my thumb.
