Gi class

Teachings of the day... escaping the Kimura. Bump up and put your hand on the opponents bicep. Bump up and trap your attacked hand under your back. After the escape you can choke from the bottom. It is done sort of like a rear naked choke but you put your hand on the opponents forehead. I rolled for 30 minutes today. I got a submisson I learned from Kris Kim's triple attack video! From side control I trapped my opponents arm and the put my hand behind his head and squeezed. Painful on the shoulder for sure and can also choke your opponent if there's enough pressure.
You can find that video on my favorite video page.

No Gi class with Fred Leavy

July 28th we had a 2 hour no gi seminar with Fred Leavy. A few things that he taught us: Arm lock - Hold arm like a shotgun. Right hand on opponents right elbow, left hand on opponents right tricep, right foot on opponents left hip, roll over onto right side and place your left know on your opponents right elbow for arm lock submission. Single leg take down - hold leg like a rear naked choke. Rear naked choke from back - figure four one leg instead of getting both hooks in. Bring shoulders back and breath in when doing the choke. Guillotine choke - if someone is latched onto one leg, get hand around neck, make a fist, grab your own fist, lean chest on your opponents head.

Gi class

I went to Gi class last night. We went over grip breaks. We rolled with several different partners. I was taught the technical mount from a blue belt. It's a great mount that is hard to get out of. I rolled with a guy that's been doing Jiu-Jitsu for as long as I have and submitted him with a arm and head choke. Awesome day!
